  13. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), is an innovative software package
  14. which will provide you with a formal, analytical approach, to decision and
  15. problem analysis. Using a proven scientific method, the AHP will help you
  16. to avoid intuition and speculation, while preserving such qualitative
  17. factors as experience and judgment.

  19. Employing pairwise comparisons and a hierarchical structure of the problem,
  20. the AHP will allow you to easily quantify subjective or intangible factors.
  21. Furthermore, decomposing a complex problem into a hierarchical model, has
  22. the advantage of allowing you to focus your attention on each part of the
  23. problem separately. Hence, a difficult problem or decision, is reduced to
  24. simple comparisons of two elements, with respect to only one criteria or
  25. factor.

  27. Based on your pairwise comparisons, the AHP will calculate weights for each
  28. element in the hierarchical model. It will also report your judgment
  29. consistency, and indicate specifically which judgments, if any, are
  30. inconsistent.

  32. Because of it's ability to allow the user to easily quantify subjective or
  33. intangible factors, the AHP may be used beyond the traditional decision or
  34. problem analysis type of situations. One example might be taste testing a
  35. new food or beverage product.
